Refund Policy

1. Overview

This Refund Policy explains how billing, cancellations, and refunds work for paid subscriptions to HUIO ("HUIO", "we", "us"), an AI translation platform operated from Lima, Peru. It supplements our Terms & Conditions. By subscribing to a paid plan you confirm that you have read and accepted this policy.

2. Subscription billing

  • Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose).
  • Each billing period grants you access to the features and AI translation usage limits described for that plan.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your saved payment method, unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Applicable taxes may be added based on your billing location.

3. No refunds for consumed AI usage

HUIO incurs real, non-recoverable costs every time an AI translation is generated on your behalf. Once AI translation usage has been consumed within a billing period, that usage is not refundable, even if you cancel mid-period, downgrade your plan, or stop using the Services. Partial-month refunds for unused days within an active billing period are not provided.

4. When refunds are available

We will issue a refund in the following limited cases:

  • Duplicate billing: if you were charged more than once for the same billing period due to a payment processing error.
  • Technical failure attributable to HUIO: if a verified platform-wide outage or defect prevented you from accessing core translation features for a substantial portion of the billing period, and HUIO was unable to restore service or provide a reasonable workaround.
  • Unauthorized charges: if a charge was made without authorization and is confirmed as such after investigation.
  • Where required by law: including mandatory consumer-protection rights described below.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe, typically 5–10 business days after approval, depending on the payment provider.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing billing@huioapp.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain access to your paid features until the end of the current billing period. Cancellation does not, by itself, generate a refund for the current period.

6. Payment processing (Paddle)

Paid subscriptions are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle, who acts as the seller for transactions, handles payment collection, and manages applicable taxes. Your subscription receipts, invoices, and payment-method updates may be managed through Paddle. Refunds approved by HUIO are executed through Paddle and returned to your original payment method.

7. How to request a refund or dispute a charge

  1. Email billing@huioapp.com within 30 days of the charge.
  2. Include the email address on your HUIO account, the date and amount of the charge, the invoice or transaction ID, and a clear description of the issue.
  3. Our team will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 15 business days, subject to information needed from you or the payment provider.
  4. If a refund is approved, you will receive a confirmation email and the refund will be processed to your original payment method.

8. Peru consumer rights

If you are a consumer based in Peru, nothing in this policy limits the rights granted to you under the Consumer Protection and Defense Code (Código de Protección y Defensa del Consumidor, Law No. 29571) and related regulations enforced by INDECOPI. Where mandatory consumer rights apply (for example, hidden defects, lack of conformity, or misleading commercial practices), those rights prevail over any conflicting term of this policy.

Consumers in Peru may file complaints with INDECOPI through the channels published on its official website.

9. Chargebacks

We encourage you to contact us first before initiating a chargeback so we can investigate and resolve the issue. Unwarranted chargebacks may result in suspension or termination of your account in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or by email and will apply to billing periods starting after the effective date of the update. The version in force at the time of your charge governs that charge.
